Nursing school students/graduates

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone I am a 20 year old pre nursing student. I would like to hear from nursing school students and graduates. Why did you choose nursing? How did you get into nursing school? What's your current job? And what's the hardest part about being/becoming a registered nurse? Any advice would be highly appreciated! Also what was your G.p.a when you enrolled into the nursing program and how hard was it to get it? Thank you

Why did you choose nursing? How did you get into nursing school? Sounded like a good career choice, I could work nights, and I get to work with people.

What's your current job? ER RN

And what's the hardest part about being/becoming a registered nurse? The hardest part for me was dealing with all the little things that nursing school wanted you to do. At least mine. They had these additional few hour classes that people had to schedule outside of class time. It was hard when your schedule comes out at least two months to try and fit in a four hour class on top of all the classes I was taking. Sometimes there were multiple classes each semester.

Any advice would be highly appreciated! Also what was your G.p.a when you enrolled into the nursing program and how hard was it to get it? I think I had a high GPA (3.5+) back then with a high ACT. I was under the old criteria which was super easy to get into. They admitted me under my high school stuff instead of the college stuff which I had not taken all of the pre-reqs for. I swore there were three secret lists instead of just the one since I kept on getting bumped up but other people supposedly were a year behind me who had applied two years. The criteria they replaced it with six months after I was accepted was a lot harder as it's a points system with no waiting list.

I am a senior BSN nursing student and I chose nursing because of my caregiving nature.

I got into my nursing program because of my GPA and verbal SAT score.

At the time I applied to nursing school my gpa was around a 3.95.

Nursing school is hard because there are no text book answers. You have to critically think through each scenario and look at each patient differently. Hope that helps :)

1. Why did you choose nursing? I always knew I wanted to be a nurse. When I was in 10th grade I got my CNA. After graduation I went to technical school and received my diploma in medical assistance. My MA diploma helped me get a job as a PCT in an ICU for 9 1/2 years.

2. How did you get into nursing school? I applied twice to the local community college ADN program. Didn't get in the first time, but I did the second time.

3. What's your current job? Currently I work full time nights as a Tele nurse. In the same hospital I worked as a tech.

4. what's the hardest part about being/becoming a registered nurse? The hardest part about nursing school for me was time. I worked full time as a tech while in nursing school. I have two kids, one with medical issues that required weekly visits to therapy and dr' appts. I spent every moment I had studying. Missed many family events because of work or studying. But at the end I graduated from the ADN program with honors.

5. what was your G.p.a when you enrolled into the nursing program? I believe my GPA was a 3.5 getting into the program.

6. how hard was it to get it? The program was difficult to get in. I applied twice before I got accepted.

I wish you the best of luck and remember don't give up. If this is something you want go for it.
