How does one find out individual nursing school rankings? Not necessarily the way a school ranks themsleves but by a national ranking system?
The US News rankings are pretty much a joke, and anyone in nursing academia will tell you the same thing -- they are based on a v. limited amount of v. arbitrary information, most of which has nothing to do with what a potential student would care about (like, how much Federal grant money for research the school brings in each year). Nothing about good teaching, student satisfaction, clinical opportunities, etc.Besides that, the "best" choice of nursing programs for one person might not be a good choice for another person -- people have v. different learning styles, values, etc., and there are many individual variables to consider in choosing a school.
There's no reliable, meaningful "ranking" of nursing programs "out there" that I'm aware of -- the best thing you can do is thoroughly research the programs you're interested in and make the best decision you can for yourself.
Thats an interesting point. I have heard for instance, that the UW emphasizes "book skills" more so than "clinical skills." In this way an ADN program that is more intensely focused on clinicals might prepare someone better for real-world nursing. No disrespect to UW or its ppl. though - I don't know the facts, its just a rumor I have heard that does echo your point.

MassED,
Don't forget that those were only nursing schools that had graduate level nursing programs so CC's wouldn't not be included.
