I am currently working on continued education at a community college. I have been bullied and rushed while caring for clients. My big question is is it ok to pass meds that someone else pulled from the pixis they still are in package but I feel by them pulling the medication it is taking away from the safety checks what do you think?

As an RN, I would feel comfortable with that as I can still do my 7 rights. However, as a student, I would speak to your instructor and make sure they are ok with it.
I'm sorry you are feeling that way in your program

How does that take away from your safety checks? If anything, it's a potential problem for the nurse doing the pulling. Medications removed under her name may not actually make it to the patient ...or if they do make it, they may not be documented correctly.
Whe you are doing your first of 3 checks pulling the medication against the mar the second when giving medication the third when signing that you gave them. If it has been some time since meds were drawn up has something changed. I also know as an Lpn if we preset or pulled meds for another nurse in front of state we would be in violation of med pass safety

It still doesn't take away from YOUR safety checks.
At the facility I worked before most non-narcotic meds were delivered in the patients bins, enough for 24 hours. (And they would sometimes include PRN's) The only scheduled meds we pulled were narcotics. For my checks: I would get my bin, and compare the meds as I pulled them out of the bin to the MAR. Second check was when I scanned them into the system. Third check occurred BEFORE I gave the meds to my patient: I would call them out to my patient and I opened the packet and dropped them in the med cup. I would sign off after my patient had taken their meds. (I never counted signing off the meds AFTER the patient took them as a safety check. By that time, it's too late to prevent an error)
I agree with Sour Lemon, it takes nothing away from you safety checks but can cause problems for the nurse who pulled the meds.
That doesn't make sense to me since the MAR is typically checked immediately before administration. And if that's not the custom where you're at, I don't see why you couldn't add an additional check to resolve the issue.
Be prudent with your practice, but remember that you are the student in this scenario- not the teacher. Unless there's a true risk to yourself or your patient, do it the way they want you to and get your passing grade(s).
