Nursing school in MD

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi,

I'm a paramedic in Maryland, and I am after my rn. I'm having trouble finding a medic to rn program. Any suggestions? If not, or in addition, I would be ok with a full aas program, if part of it could be self-paced, or online. I would like to avoid spending two years in school if possible. Thank you.

A little googling discovered this:

Online Nursing Program Overview

Looks like CCBC has a Paramedic to RN bridge program.

Thank you for the reply. Yeah, googled plenty. Found ccbc, but the schedule wont work out with my full time medic schedule. Anybody who has done a medic to rn?

It's almost impossible to go to nursing school and work full-time. In fact, I'd venture to say it is impossible. Clinicals take TIME and you have to be AVAILABLE. Lab courses take time, etc. One or the other has to become part-time and unless you took college level courses for your medic credentials, nothing is transferrable because it's not the same. You'll still have to take all the coursework unless you have accumulated credits that the school will accept.

Subee, I hear what your are saying. I work a rotating schedule, two 24s a week. I have plenty of time, but a traditional program wont let me work. I am just trying to see if there would be a program that would accommodate a working paramedic. If it comes down to it, I can suck it up and go part time at work. Thanks for the insight.
