Tell her to go to get a CNA certificate first at a local voc-school. I think this is a requirement for all nursing school students. There should be other certificates that can replace CNA as a requirement such as Patient Tech, etc. just inquire in the financial aid office of the school she is planning to go to.

Ummm...I won't touch that comment. I don't see requiring a CNA certificate as a tougher requirement for entrance, but more of an annoyance or even deterrant, but anyway...
sjoe's right. Check the financial aid office of the college she's attending. I received a grant once, a federal Pell Grant during my freshman year. All I did was apply for any federal aid and they gave me loans/grants based on need only. The Fin. Aid office is a great start.
ok, if you have noticed i'm new around here and i'm just trying to help so if you could please give me a break and stop scrutinizing my every word. jesus christ.
obgyn, my school requires a cna certificate or other patient care certificate before acceptance to nursing school. hopefully this would not apply to your step daughter since it is a pain in the butt. i'm sure her college financial aid office will tell her everything she needs to know.

Uh well, which is why when you clarified your comment, I stated it was cool, as in okay, fine, great. No hard feelings.
So I don't think anyone is scrutinizing anything. I believe it's cleared up, yes?
Just remember all we have is your written word, so, it's easy to misinterpret and it can appear that you are being hostile if you, in fact, are not. I can tell you now that your post back to OBNURSEHEATHER appears somewhat snotty. If not, hey, cool, but just clarify, ok? No hard feelings, I hope.

My step-daughter has recently decided to go into Nursing School. I haven't done this whole grant thing for a long time, and it's hard to search through all that info and decide which is best. Any of you out there had any good experience with particular grants for Nursing schools? I have all the general info, but wondered if anyone could give me any inside info on ones you had a good experience with. She is graduating HS this year, and has a B average in school now, if that matters. We're just getting application forms from her school counselor. Nothing all that helpful from them except the forms to fill out. Any experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)
