I have a question about nursing school clinicals. I will be taking evening classes(M-F 6-10 for first semester and the rest 4-10). Are the clinicals done at the school or somewhere else? and when its at a hospital or wherever how many hours are you there? and during the week, how many days of the week do you go to outside clinicals? everyday? it also said I'll have saturday clinicals, so i dont know if thats when i'll do them or not. thank ya!

Clicicals are always held ina work place setting. Most schools have clinicals and LTC facilities and some other settings as well.I had clinicals in a community nursing setting and at a mental health facility in addition to hospital and LTC.How often and waht days of the week varies from school to school. Usually we were there for a full shift with the nurses but had to be there a bit earlier to get our assignments and get organized. We always had our clinicals during day shift so sometimes it meant being there as early as 0630. Best of luck.

My LVN program consisted of 4 quarters. In the 1st quarter we did skills lab in place of clinicals. In skills lab we learned nursing procedures and basic nursing care to prepare us for clinicals. In the 2nd quarter we were in a LTCF. 3rd quarter an acute care hospital with rotations in OB, OR, and med/surg. 4th quarter we were at a LTAC hospital. In between we also had a few days in an Alzheimer/psych facility and a couple days with a school nurse for pediatrics.

Your clinical schedule will depend on your program. For example we did 8 hour clinicals 2-3 days each week. The rest of the days were in the classroom.

My program was 3 semesters...

first semester (16 weeks): first 8 weeks was "lab time" where she taught us skills and such...2nd 8 weeks was in LTC one day a week from 7am to 4:10 pm.

2nd semester (16 weeks): first 8 weeks in a LTC center from 6:30 am to 4:00pm I think...one day a week.

3rd semester (6 weeks) first 3 weeks LTC. second 3 weeks Hospital acute care. from 6:00am to 1:00 pm.

We also did one day rotations in ER and Dialysis.

In my school. At orientation they told me that we will have clinicals on the weekends and during the week. So like 3 days of Classroom lectures and 2 days of clinicals in the field
