anyone go to a private school??
do private school students get treated better??
At my community college we were treated with disrespect from instructors.
and when I was at a private university in their nursing program we were treated with so much respect from the instructors- they really cared about us.
it depends. at um it was expensive but i learned alot both about myself and the professional path i have chosen. i formed relationships with many of my professors and i still communicate wtih many of them. unfortunately, shortly after i graduated, there was a changing of the guard and um got a new dean. with new came new professors and some of my professors chose other paths. that is unfortunate for the students there now. however, i believe that a big part of any experience is what you put into it. understand that the professors have lives and families and careers outside of teaching and that they have years of experience to share with you if you will listen. not everyone can teach. teaching, like nursing is a calling and a gift, not something you can learn in a text book and some people do not have that gift but they may have others. i can appreciate that it is difficult for you to think about that if you feel that you have been slighted by a professor or perhaps you feel that you are not being heard and recognized for your effort. this too shall pass but you will never pass this way again. each organization has their own individual culture and enviornment. barry is completely different than um down here in south florida. if you ask 2 different students, you may get 2 very different opinions. public or private organizations, in this economy, each have their own growing pains and they may not be that different. your education is one of your greatest investments, your home, your car, those too but those may change. your education is the foundation that you are building everything else on. invest in you. but visit the schools first and listen to your voice inside, then you will know which is right for you.
