Hi,
I want to know how bad is the nursing surplus

Depends on where you are and the local market. California is over-run with unemployed new grads, and an associate's degree is particularly undesirable by many employers' standards.
Here in Indiana, its not so bad, but of the four major hospital systems, only one hires associate degree, and then requires BSN within three years of employment.
There is NO nursing shortage. The shortages are for experienced nurses in specialty areas.
Thanks so much. I find it sad academia and the job market are never in sync except for a few fields since schools seem more interested in a profit. I'm just glad and grateful I have the chance to start over.
