Accelerated BSN Program on Resume

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I'm a 2nd degree student graduating in early August this year. I will have completed my BSN program in 12 months when I finish. How do I list this program on my education? Do I state: Accelerated Bachelor's in Nursing instead of just Bachelor's in Nursing? Because the dates of my attendance are only 1 year so I assume I need to call this out in the resume somehow.

Thanks for any advice!

I don't think it's anything you need to be secretive about or anything (accelerated programs are now pretty common and perfectly legit), but, FWIW, I don't put the dates I attended my various schools on my CV, just the year I completed the degree (and no one's ever asked me how long I was at any of the schools). It's not like employment, where it actually matters how long you were with a specific employer -- it just matters that you completed the program and got the degree.

And you list the degree as whatever it says on your actual degree (which will probably not say anything about it being an accelerated program). You're not earning an "accelerated BSN" -- you're earning a BSN (via an accelerated program). It's the same degree any other BSN-prepared nurse has.

Thanks!

same here I accelerated all of mine doing a 18 month RN-BSN in 8 months. I hope to do my BSN to MSN in 9 unless I decide on a BSN to DNP.
