Nursing Program in Lafayette!! (SLCC)

Hello, I am a potential student applying for the RN-ADN program here in Louisiana. I am curious to know if there are any fellow folks that will be applying to the first class of nurses at South Lousiana Community College? I am so nervous to see how this will turn out, since this first group will be the "guinea pigs" of this new program. I am so anxious to hear from any other potential SLCC first class RN graduates to be!! Thanks for reading...you don't have to post much, I just wanted to do a roll call type of post! Oh, and Good Luck to all that are taking their TEAS V exam this week..(share you alls experiences with that here too)

What did you make on the Teas and what was your GPA? Trying to get as much info as I can

It went just fine. It's not a cake walk. Every moment you take is a moment to study. You teach yourself and worry about yourself no matter what school you go to and in life if you can teach someone else, in turn you teach yourself. Use the resources they give you and hustle very hard. If they say do ATI, do ATI 3 times. If they say do a care plan, add details so that you can learn about medications and diseases, not to turn in a paper. If they ask you to do a skill, show them that you can. When not in school, people will expect you to do these things even if you are new and some aren't so nice. Be you, be great, and strive.

My first and only RN Nclex test took me under an hour and then I found out I passed a few days later... then went straight to work the very next day as an RN in charge of ventilated patients with cardiac gtts, etc.

Currently getting a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Lamar in Beaumont, Tx. Other students from the first class have choosen McNeese. We were not Guinea pigs ;) Several work in ICU, ER, and as educators, etc.

Do you (@KellbellzRN) remember the ranges of GPA(s) that mostly got in the program LPN or/and RN? I am currently waiting on my admission status for the LPN program at SLCC. Very curious and nervous.

Hello madisonfranklin i am also waiting for acceptance into the RN program. Did you hear anything yet? When I applied last year I got my rejection letter around this time (I just checked the date on my old letter) and the anticipation is killing me.

What date did you receive your letter. What was your gpa and teas score when rejected (Rn2momta)

I had a 3.5 and an 80 on the teas test. My rejection letter was dated may 24, 2017 but I didn't receive it until may 30,2017.

I did speak with the secretary yesterday who told me not to assume on the dates because each year there are different circumstances(which is understandable). It just seems like a long wait.

Yes it feels like forever. I wish they would accept more than 40 students.

You had a good gpa and teas score last year...it makes me really nervous that you didn't get in with those scores
