I would advise sitting down with your guidance counselor to get input on your questions. The other thing you can do is look at job postings in your area or the area in which you want to work- do these postings state BSN required or BSN preferred? If so, you may actually be better off going straight for the BSN. Life happens, so some people who went to an ADN with plans to attend a BSN completion program either delayed or chose not to attend.
Above all, please be aware that the nursing job market is tight in some areas of the country. This means you may not be able to find an ER job right out of school, and will need to work in another specialty to get experience. Some facilities may not accept new grads into the ER.
Essentially, do some research that is specific to where you are and your local job market. Good resources for finding nursing programs are the state Board of Nursing's website, which should provide a list of approved programs and both ACEN and CCNE websites, which allow you to search for accredited programs.
