Nursing program at Forsyth Tech in NC

Published

Has anyone been accepted into the ADN program at Forsyth Tech? I want to apply for Spring 09. I want to know about how many points I would need to even make it into the program. They would not tell me when I called. It would be nice to know so I can decide whether or not to find another school that I could get into. I only have 3 classes that would count toward my points, and I have not taken the TEAS test yet. When I called, they said about 150 apply, but only 72 would be accepted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm applying for fall too. My advisor said it is really hard to get into the anatomy courses. I'm really crossing my fingers I got into 165. She said if there was any trouble I'd get a call on Monday from the secretary that enters the nursing registrations into the system. She said they enter them in the order of the time/date your advisor put on your registration. Is that what they told you? When did you meet with your advisor?

I don't really know much about Surry's current program. I know they use kind of the same points system FTCC uses. I would imagine it's pretty competitive since they only admit students to start in the fall and don't offer a spring option, but I don't know that for sure.

I saw my advisor Monday of this past week as soon as advising supposedly started. I was the first person she saw, but number 4 in her pile. So,evidently, not everyone had to wait til advising week. I really hope I get in to bio 165 because that's all I have left.

It is VERY difficult to get into the 165 course. I went during late registration last year and people were standing in line for hours (they got there at 5 am). I ended up getting the last spot. Go as early in the advising week as you can! Everyone has to take that class so it fills very quickly. Good luck to everyone applying to the nursing program! I'm just about done with my first semester. It's tough!

are you taking just nursing courses, Lindsey?

Yes, I took all my pre-reqs in two semesters, and honestly I am SO thankful I did!

Just curious...did you get into A&P?

I did. What about you? Did you get in? I am taking the hybrid course. I don't know what I was thinking. Oh well, hopefully I'll do okay.

Yep...Thank goodness! I was really worried. I'm taking the M/W/F class. It's MW from 10 - 11:25 then 11 - 1:50 on Friday. I started to take the hybrid but was afraid it would be too hard. If we're doing the same systems at the same time, I'd be happy to share notes with you if you need them!

thanks. maybe we can help each other out. I am a little nervous. I can't remember....have you already taken the TEAS? Oh, and what about the CNA requirement..have you taken care of that already? I need to get on the ball, I haven't done either.

I haven't taken the TEAS yet. I plan on taking it after Christmas. Wanted to wait until I have some time off work and school to study for it. I bought one of those guides from the ATI Testing site.

I actually got CNA certified in high school through HOSA, but I let it lapse. So, instead of taking the whole CNA class, I'm just going to challenge the test. I sent my application off to the state, but haven't gotten my date back yet.

You're applying for Fall right?

oops, sorry, i never saw you wrote me. yes, i am applying in the fall. i am going to call early next week to schedule the teas. i am going to have to do a lot of studing because i have been out of school for so long

It's all good. I think we're all so busy these days. Good luck with your TEAS test! Let me know how it goes!

Anyone who is having difficulty getting into Anatomy should strongly consider attending Northern Virginia Community College online. You have to pay out of state tuition, but I found it relatively easy and got a B. You take your exams through a local proctor. Check out http://www.nvcc.edu

I got accepted for the Fall 2010 semester with 159 points. :)
