Microbiology with lab
No, I just completed it at a community college. The CA BON is so funny about things, and I didn't want to take any chances.

Does the track really matter?
Thanks for your input! Ugh...decisions, decisions.

Does the track really matter?
I am looking into NP schools and am having a hard time deciding on which path to take. Does it really matter if you do the FNP track vs a FNP/Adult-Geron NP track? The courses look very similar, but I am wondering if the dual role would really be necessary. What do you guys think? I think I would like to work in a PCP office maybe, but I may change my mind further along the road and want to be sure whatever education I have will allow me to have many different options.

Being a new nurse sucks
Hang in there. Nursing school prepares you for the NCLEX BUT not necessarily real world experiences. I learned more my first 6 weeks of being a nurse than I did as a nursing student. When I precept , I try to remember how it was as a new grad and don't assume that anyone knows much about anything. However, different people have different personalities. Try not to let your orecepror get to you. You'll get the hang of things. The first few months are stressful.

Microbiology with lab
No I still haven't found one. Ugh! If I do hear of something I'll let you know. There has to be an online course somewhere.

Microbiology with lab
I am submitted an application by endorsement and was told I need a microbiology with lab course for a CA nursing license. I will have to take the class online due to my work schedule. Does anyone know of an affordable online college that offers a microbiology with lab course that California Board of Nursing would approve? I called the CA BON and they said as long as it's a CA school I would be fine but couldn't give me any suggestions. I live in NC and I have searched and searches schools in CA, but I can't find one with an online microbiology course. Any suggestions?

Weak stomache?
I have a VERY weak stomach, but surprisingly I don't really get sick at the hospital. I think because I am just focusing on caring for the patient. Now on the ride home, I sometimes gag a little when I think back. Oh, and I always have to take 2 baths after clinicals or the smells live on. I think it does get easier as you go along.

Anatomy/Physiology Coloring Book
Hmm, honestly I would wait on the coloring book and color it as you learn the different systems. I would go ahead and start learning to identify things using a book, but I'd wait for the coloring. The coloring book really helps with the little details that you may forget by January. I would start to learn bigger things like the bones, muscles, etc out of a text book. Just my opinion.

CNA Exam Dilemma! Help!
Yes! I received my date I had to take it in the mail 3 weeks before the exam. I only had 3 weeks to read the CNA book and practice the skills. It can be done. I read the book the first 2 weeks and practiced the skills the last week. You tube really helped me a lot! Let me know if you have any other questions. You can pm me if you want. I will be happy to help.

CNA Exam Dilemma! Help!
I agree that youtube.com will help. Just search for the skills that you want to see. Also, don't worry about there being so many steps. It looks like a lot, but really most steps are common sense. Practice the skills on someone. I challenged the exam, and just practiced on my kids over and over again. That really helped. On the day of the exam, I was really nervous, but it was so much easier than I thought it would be. You'll do fine. Just practice on someone if you can.

challenging the CNA exam?
If you are saying you want to be a CNA while you are in school, then I think it would be worth a shot. I challenged the CNA exam because I have to be a CNA before I start nursing school in the Fall. I didn't have time to take a CNA course. I don't know if it would be more difficult to find a job though if you did not complete a CNA course. From what I have heard, most employers ask for your course certificate. The people I know that challenged the exam were either certified already in another state and moved to NC, or just needed to be a CNA before nursing school.

GOT ACCEPTED...NO BABYSITTER:((( What to do??
I would definitely try Craigslist.com. There are a lot of in home daycares that are open during those times. I would be sure to check references. You shouldn't have any trouble finding anyone on craigslist. I used to have an inhome daycare, and that's how I found all of my clients. Congratulations on gettng accepted!
