Nursing Pre-Reqs

I am just wondering if anyone while doing pre-reqs prior to Nursing school ever got discouraged. Right now I am doing A&P1 in a summer term and it is going so fast. My grade right now is a 'C' and I am getting kind of down. I am doing really well in lab, but in lecture I suck! In order to get into Nursing school I need at least a 'B'. So I am getting pretty nervous. We only have two weeks left, but 2 more lecture tests and 2 lab practicals.

I used to tape the lecture and at the same time take notes.Later that night, I would re-write the notes while listening with head phones. I was amazed at how much I missed! I also made flash cards and had anyone who came near me, quiz me.

During my second semester, I was failing really bad. I needed a 99 to pass second semester. I was so sad. I worked so hard ( I thought) to end up like this. I read, and re-read, went to tutoring and mostly, I prayed so sincerely that I received 100 on the test.

You have to be sincere and apply yourself like you never have before. Good Luck, Gilda

Thanks again for all the replies. I have decided to hang in there. I was told by my academic counselor that there have been some excellent nurses that have made 'C's in all there sciences but were wonderful nurses. He also went on to say that he knows of nurses that were straight 'A' students that were not so great. By the way this A&P1 class I am taking is only 6 weeks long. Just thought I would add that little tid bit. Please keep me in your prayers as I will be entering my last week on Monday. I have a Lecture test and practical on Thursday and final exam on Friday.

Hey there

I personally love summer courses. Yes they are a lot more work,

but they go by quickly. The key is you MUST work very hard and study EVERYDAY. Study the days lecture as soon as you can after class, rewrite your notes everyday, and read all assigned chapters. I have taken anatomy, cell bio and currently physics in the summer and if you are willing to put in the work it will pay off.

But good advice earlier, drop the class asap and retake in the future. I have learned thatfrom college I have learned how to learn Classes I would never have been able to do as a freshmen I can do easily now

Good luck

I'm in the same boat! i'm taking A&P II in summer II... *sigh* the things you gotta do before you actually go into nursing school....

well good luck!!!

I'm taking A & P 1 this summer too, and will be taking A & P II during the fall semester, along with College Algebra, on top of working full time. I've got an "A" so far, but our unit test on the skeletal and muscular system is this Tuesday, so I've spent most of my weekend studying. And I've got a nasty summer cold. But I just keep my nose in the books, and keeping pulling out my schedule that shows what I need to have accomplished by December in order to apply to the program, and know I CAN do this! I've waited a long time to get here, and I'm going to do whatever I have to do to fulfill my dream of being a nurse. It also helps that my husband and kids are very supportive of me!

You can do this! Don't loose sight of your dream....

I am taking math class this summer and am thinking about dropping... I dont want my GPA to be brought down by it, and I am not doing very well in it... I have a C but am taking other classes too, so I have to put the math on the back burner to get the other classes done.

I took AP II in four weeks, I think, maybe 5. It was really hard but my teacher was great and helped us a lot. you can do it and when its all over your class should go out for margaritas!
