I am working on a RN-BSN program. I am required to write a paper focusing on a project I would like to start to improve nursing care or practice at my current work place. The issue is that I have only worked on one unit for 3 months, just out of orientation. I like my current unit, and believe we have a great manager. Does anyone have any examples they could share on this topic?? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks so much!!!

Hello fellow RN to BSN student. I also re-started school right after being hired for my first nursing job, congrats! I've worked Med-Surg for a little over a year and a half now and just did a school thread on this very topic...fancy that. I did my topic on the lack of education with cardiac telemetry monitoring concerning cardiac rythm interpretation. Since our unit is more surgical and not heavy in cardiac (with the exception of patients having tele monitors on for various reasons) I've found that more than less of the nurses are not as confident in rythm interpretation as they would like to be. If it helps, I found journals on adding computer based programs to initial and continuing education to increase confidence and knowledge. Good luck!

write what you know about. Orientation for new grads - was it adequate and appropriate?
Hi! thanks so much for your suggestion! I can see that being an issue on my current unit as well (I'm one of the nurses that isn't so confident!) Can I ask where you located journal articles on this topic? I'm having difficulty locating any!

BC do you have access to online journal libraries through your school? I found OVID to be awesome for peer reviewed research studies. Just work out the wording and look for things that are within 3-5 years of now. I would search for "new graduate orientation" to start with and see what crops up. Also if you are part of any nursing organizations I believe there are access points to articles. And when all else fails do a Google Scholar search and then take your results to the library and try to get your hands on the articles.
