Nursing or Physical therapy assistant

Published

I've been waiting too long to get into nursing school. I've been pretty depressed lately about that, and so I knew I had to do something about it.

I recently inquired some information from a private college for a PTA(physical therapy assistant) program. Well, I was interviwed and accepted after taking test their test in order to get in the program. I start classes this August. I wanted to know if any one knows about this career. Pros and cons, salary, and level of satisfaction(like nursing). I went to career builder and their starting salary for entry level in Miami & Ft. Lauderdale is

$52K. At http://www.salary.com Hialeah Nursing homes Licenced PTA's make $43K-50K. From your experience is it pretty accurate.

Check out www.physicaltherapist.com . Looks like they have a message board for PT's and PTA's where you could get some good info.

Hi Mary777

That pay seems about right for PTA's in South Florida maybe a little bit less though for a new graduate, but it's pretty close to being accurate.

What college are you going to go to for PTA?

I attend Keiser College, but im in the occupational therapy assistant program.

I will attend Keiser College as well. What are the professors like, and the program. Do you like it?

I dont know any of the PTA professors, but I love my professors in the OTA program. They are real hard, but they really want to see you succeed if you are willing to work and study hard.

My only problem with Keiser is how expensive it is. I have no other choice though, because it is the only OTA program in South Florida.

Anyways good luck in the program.
