  1. I forgot about this thread. OT is a great field. I graduated OTA school in August and just passed my boards.
  2. hello an ot aide is someone that will assist the therapist, but do not treat patients. to be a certified occupational therapy assistant (cota/l) you have to graduate from an accredited school with an associates degree. you then have to take the nbcot exam for certification and then you can apply for your state license. ot and nurses do not do the same thing. i'm sure nurses do not have enough time in the day with their busy and hectic schedule to also provide ot services. i have 3 more months until i graduate ota school and i am so exited. i'm actually done with all the school work, now i am in my level ii fieldwork and loving it. it's been a hard 2 years, but i made it through.
  3. Check school like Sheridan Vocational or McFatter. I know Sheridan use to offer massage therapy when I went there. It will probablt be your cheapest bet since it's part of the Broward County School Board.
  4. I am not a nurse but, I worked at a hospital as a tech and ended up leaving the job to do construction . After awhile I decided to go back to school to become an occupational therapist and the hospital hired me back per diem while I am in school.
  5. WOW Those CNA's should be written up. When I was a CNA and took the state certification test, hand washing was the one thing that was stressed over and over and even had to physically show the person giving the test the proper hand washing technique.
  6. I am not sure what PTA's make, but COTA's (which is what I am in school studying to be) in my area make around $20- $25 an hour.
  7. I dont know any of the PTA professors, but I love my professors in the OTA program. They are real hard, but they really want to see you succeed if you are willing to work and study hard. My only problem with Keiser is how expensive it is. I have no other choice though, because it is the only OTA program in South Florida. Anyways good luck in the program. Theloneliest Monk
  8. Hi Mary777 That pay seems about right for PTA's in South Florida maybe a little bit less though for a new graduate, but it's pretty close to being accurate. What college are you going to go to for PTA? I attend Keiser College, but im in the occupational therapy assistant program. Theloneliest Monk
