Nursing opportunities in Canad

Published

I wanted to ask does Canada welcome new grad nurses to come from the US? I am a US educated. Unfortunately it has been many months since I graduated and passed the NCLEX-RN and I have yet to land my first nursing job. I am considering the Alberta Canada. I looked at the website of the licensing board and they have a link for international applicants. DO I have a chance as a new grad with no prior experience other than passing the NCLEx-RN?

Highly unlikely you will get a job offer offshore.

Alberta new grads are finding that first permanent job hard to come by. Most are hired as casuals or temporary placements. AHS the main employer of nurses is constantly restructuring. There have been layoffs and bumping in the last two years.

But hey, if you are a US citizen, NAFTA is your friend.

Specializes in geriatrics.

Covenant Health is restructuring as well. New rotations for RNS, LPNS, HCA's next year.

A friend works at U of A and her unit is also awaiting new rotations. Same across the country, more or less. Casual jobs are still available, no guaranteed hours.

Not a good time for health care, ongoing now for 7 years.
