TAMU-CC Eline BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Does anyone know if the eline BSN program is still available? I'm interested in finding out more about it. The website is pretty minimal as far as information goes. I've called and emailed the advisors multiple times, but I haven't heard anything back. That in itself concerns me. If it's online class work, I want to know that I'll be able to reach the department when I need to!

Yes, TAMUCC still has the e-line program. Good luck getting a hold of them. If you don't live too far, maybe try stopping in.

Thanks. I'm from DFW so it's a little too far to just drop by!

Haha. Yeah. Well I hope you get a reply. I know when I was applying I would get a reply. I don't know what is keeping them from replying from your emails or phone calls.

Thanks. Did you get in? Do you like it, and would you choose it again?

No, I didn't get in. It's really competitive. But my best friend got in the in person program.

HTCC, I know this is an old post but where are you in the process of getting in? I'm from DFW and am hoping to start Spring 2016.

I'm from the DFW area too. Unfortunately I could never get anyone from the program to respond to my emails and phone calls. I sent multiple emails and finally several months later I got one back asking if anyone had gotten in touch with me. However when I responded that no one had, I never got another response. So, long story short, I've removed them from my list of programs. Good luck to you! Hopefully it goes better than mine did.

I was admitted to eline and chose not to attend. It is extremely competitive. I ended up quitting my job to attend a nursing school in a large medical center. One good aspect of eline is that you could probably keep your job and drag out the BSN over 4 years. Economically that is appealing. If you can get accepted to eline, you can get accepted to a top nursing school and get far better clinical experiences at a major medical center. The eline staff weren't very good about responding to emails. If you don't live in Corpus Christi, you'll have to find your own hospitals and preceptors. This is extremely difficult to do. A staff person told us that students often failed in finding a hospital and preceptor and ended up going to Corpus Christi to do clinical courses. That certainly can't be very job friendly for people working full-time.

dienw: What were your grades, etc. when you applied? I'm considering applying for Summer 2016 admission, but I'm not sure how competitive I would be.

I have a BA in English from Texas A&M - College Station. My last 60 hours GPA is like a 3.3 or 3.4 maybe. I have most of the prerequisites done, mostly A's, some B's. I still need to take Statistics, Chemistry, Economics, and the two online nursing prereqs they offer/require. I would take all of those over this fall and next spring. I have taken the HESI for another school, but it didn't include all of the sections they require. So, I know I would need to take it again. For the one I took, which only included Math, Reading Comprehension, and Vocabulary, I made a 97%. I'm currently employed by one of their partner hospitals, Scott and White Memorial in Temple, TX, which is the main hospital of the Scott and White system. I'm hoping I would be able to do most if not all of my clinicals there.

My grades aren't great but they're not bad either. But I don't know what the average is for accepted applicants. And I'm thinking that not having ALL of the prerequisites completed by the time of my application may hurt me, too. I'm hoping that having a degree from Texas A&M and having employment with a partner hospital could help me.

What do you think?

I e-mailed Ms. Crystal Ramirez last week, but I haven't heard anything yet.

Hi nursing_n00b. I live in Belton and currently work at McLane in Temple. Hoping to get a job at S&W as well to help with going to nursing school (the business world isn't the best at being supportive of that). I have a BS in Biology with a Chem/Psych minor.

I am also considering this program, because of their partnership with S&W. Hopefully we will talk to each other more, it is nice having someone close by!

Hi, jlgaut!

I live in Temple, and I still work at S&W. My wife is actually interviewing for a job a McLane right now. It's cool that you work there!

I applied last October for Summer 2016 admission to this eline BSN program. I just interviewed for it a couple of days ago, and I will know if I got in by the end of this week. Wish me luck!

With your major and minors, you probably have almost all, if not all, of the prerequisites done already, for this and most all other nursing programs.

It doesn't seem to be visible anywhere on the website, but there has been a vacancy for the eline Academic Advisor position since December. I believe they have picked someone to fill the role, but they seem to still be in the onboarding process. I've been corresponding with Mr. Samuel Ramos all of this month for all of my questions. He is the military eLine advisor.

But I'd be happy to try and answer anyone's questions, too!
