I Start college this August but im not sure if I want to do nursing or medical technogy , I realized I get uncomftable with direct patient care . I appied to a school and got accepted for medical technogy instead of nursing , so I did research on it and it sounds like it might be fit for me. The only problem is that I've invested time into becoming a nurse , I even got my nursing assistant license in my junior year of high school with a program i volunteer at, Im just not sure and need help I have till may first to choose a school.
What are The pros and cons of each thank you

What exactly about patient care makes you uncomfortable?
Messing up something
I was scared out of my mind for my Cna clinicals!
Oh, I think that's normal! And a good thing. Being afraid you'll make an error means you realize you're human and can make a mistake. It also means you'll hopefully approach the field professionally and carefully, and strive to do your best.
There are a lot of pros to nursing. I enjoy the interactions with people. Right now, I work in the NICU, so I don't have much conversing with my actual patients, but I do family members. I enjoy that sort of thing and kind of being the "front line" of the patient's care in provider and advocacy. I like the puzzle of helping the medical team figure out what my patients need and then doing it.
Medical technology is interesting, but to me, there is no comparison. That's(obviously) a biased opinion lol. If you want to work with technology, there are multiple fields you can go into and get the best of both worlds.
I'm still not sure if I even want direct patient care at all ,'I don't enjoy it at all

I am currently a nurse, but I was a phlebotomist in a hospital for over 10 years and married to a med tech for 6. I would coose medical technology. If I was better in the sciences, that's probably the route I would have taken. As a med tech you are a vital part of the health care team, the pay is comparable (actually my ex made a fair amount more than I do as a nurse), and you don't have patient contact. However, you are dealing with bodily fluids, poo, pee, sputum, blood, etc. So, it's still "gross". Good luck to you!
If you don't enjoy it at all, then I would strongly rethink nursing. There are areas in nursing that step away from the bedside and have no patient contact, but those areas usually take getting experience in areas that DO require the contact, first. Not only that, but you'll have to get through clinicals with a lot of patient contact.
If you have no interest in it at all, I think you answered your own question. Save your time and money, and choose something other than nursing.

I would also look into becoming a MRI technologist. I do not recommend nursing to anyone. You basically have to be a martyr: no breaks, people constantly on your coattails, stress, politics, plus all the other stuff. Do not be blinded by the salary, nurses earn every cent they get. I've yet to meet 5 people who like nursing for nursing. Most of the people like it because of the pay and also they get to be home 4 days/week. I'm currently looking into a new career.
