Currently finishing up my prereqs now and hope to apply to local CC in Feb 2017 for their ADN program and then, if accepted, will dual enroll with Frostburg for a BSN (I definitely want a BSN). Plan B, if I don't get accepted to the ADN, is to apply to UMDSON BSN program.
I was told by a charge nurse in my area that our hospital will absolutely hire ADN RNs but that is two years away from now and I'm worried I won't get hired. I definitely plan to get a BSN but wonder if I should go straight for it or do the ADN route. I am a non-traditional student: been a SAHM for 17 years, 39 years old, and just finished with a CNA and GNA program to get started with some experience.
How practical is it to assume I will be able to work part time as a nursing assistant during prereqs and nursing school, and then work as an RN while going for the BSN?
Any advice greatly appreciated!

I'm also a non-traditional student. I hope all went well! Would love an update on what you decided to do! I'm applying to UMSON and HCC dual enrollement RN-to-BSN with Frostburg. I will know in a couple of months if I was accepted into either. Excited and anxious. When the program starts, I'll be 30 with 3 kids (all 6 and under). We can do this!
