Nursing is like ___Tetris___.
Looks easy, doesn't it? But the bricks are flying faster and faster as you play.
What's nursing like to you?
HOPE.You HOPE that you will be an effective caregiver and HOPE to make a difference in the lives of those who desperately need HOPE.
...and you HOPE that pt doesn't arrive 15 mins before shift change
...and you HOPE that you don't choke on your sandwich that you swallowed
whole because you didn't get a break and you have 3 minutes to eat
...and you HOPE that you have 3 min to eat
...and you HOPE that you never lose that passion that brought you into nursing. For without that, nursing becomes a thankless job. One in which we look to be appreciated instead of seeking to provide the best possible care. It is nice to be appreciated, but I don't know of anyone that said "I want to be a nurse to be thanked for my hard work on a daily basis," NO, people say "I want to help people in their time of need, to heal and help let go."
I thank all of the nurses out there for their caring and often unappreciated work. May you never lose your passion. If it is lost, may you find it once again.
Sincerely,
Jay (your admirer & future colleague)
a TV SHOW.
It can make you laugh like a comedy, make you cry like a "tear jerker", and make you sick of man's inhumanity like a horror. It IS reality tv. It makes you think like a documentory. It can inspire like a drama. It can be entertaining and exciting or grueling and long, and yet, at the end of the day, you can turn it off (clock out), pick up a book, and just relax.

Nursing is like the atmosphere. The more you climb the less air you have to breathe and then you get hit by a plane at 35,000 feet.
(I couldn't think of anything and this sounded funny so...)
