Serving Conditional Discharge-worried about licensure

Nurses Criminal

Published

I was arrested for possession of marijuana in summer of 2013 in August two weeks before I was going back for my senior year of nursing school. This absolutely crushed me. I am currently serving a conditional discharge until late September. I have just graduated with my BSN from out of state and have been accepted into a FNP program for the fall. I am in the process of applying for the NCLEX and licensure in NJ.

I am worried I will not be able to sit for the NCLEX in NJ because I am still serving CD in NJ. If i cannot take the NCLEX before September I may be dismissed from the FNP program!

What should I do? Send all my police reports to them and hope for the best? Also, My lawyer told me I don't have to put down that i have been convicted because there is no decision until you finish your CD.

Any advice on how I should go about all this would be great!

Curious to know what you did. Currently facing the same situation expect for LPN license. My arrest was this Cinco De Mayo and it done my program in July so the application will be sent then. My court date is in 2 weeks and will most likely get the conditional discharge being that it's my first offense. Any info will be very, very helpful please. Oh, and also in NJ as well. Thanks
