Nursing License with Felony

Nurses Criminal

Published

Hello. I am wondering if anyone has or knows of anyone in NYS who was able to get a LPN license with a Felony conviction. I'm asking because I live in NY and recently passed the NCLEX. However I am under a moral character review and submitted all my legal documentation with the Office of professional discipline for my application to be decided by the board. My conviction was in 2007 and out of state. I have moved on with my life and worked in the medical field as an EMT and currently Dialysis Tech. I also submitted to the board a NYS Certificate Of Relief From Disabilities for that conviction which I hope helps. Please if anyone has insight or knowledge on this, I would appreciate it. Also if I have to go for a hearing, does that mean I am not getting my license? :-(

Hi I went through the same thing here in Nys, I went in Jan 2017 and I am still waiting 7 months later . My prosecutor was really nasty to mean she recommended that I don't get licensed . Even my attorney was surprised. My crime back in 2005 was id theft. How was your prosecutor ? This is by far the worst thing I've been through the waiting is so anguishing. My process started in 2015 after nclex and I'm still waiting. Any advise?

I've been reading these posts and I hope some of you are still active on this site and can help me.

I graduated LPN school here in Upstate NY this past August. I have a felony conviction of Forgery from 2009. When I sent my registration for the NCLEX I also sent Certified Dispositions of my crime, my Cirtificate of Relief from Disabilities that I was granted and 2 Character letters, one from a Seregent from our local police department and another from the CFO of VNA.

I got my ATT quicker than people in my class who have no convictions and sit for the NCLEX on Tuesday the 3rd of October( 2 days). I have no idea what's going to happen after, can someone tell me their experience. I'm so nervous!!

Have you heard anything since you took the NCLEX?

Hi did they give you a hard time becoming a dialysis tech? I just got charged with a felony I'm still on parole but I'm still trying to find a good job.

Just read your post, and almost as mine. Submitted all paperwork, they just called my contacts who wrote the moral character letters for me. I was just wondering the waiting period. Passed NCLEX 10/17. I live in Florida now, but it seems like its taking forever. I didn't do the Certificate of Relief of Disabilities because i figured that would take extremely long. Any advice on the COR paperwork? Should i submit? They seem really mean in Albany when i call, I'm use to it being from NYC but jheesh> Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I have been applying to nursing school. I have had a felony possession of marijuana that was dropped down to a misdemeanor. I am so worried that the board will deny my license after my exam. The court wont expunge the charge either. I am not sure what to do. I don't want to invest all this time and effort into school if they wont give me a license. This happened over 10 years ago and I am not the same teenager that I was back then.

hello i'd love to chat offline as my boyfriend is in the process of applying to nursing school but has a felony in NY class D for assault in the 2nd degree. my email is [email protected]. i'd love to know what your felony was..

Hello. I have been doing research. I am taking pre-requisites for the nursing program. I have not yet taken the TEAS exam because I was told by someone hospitals can deny you to do clinicals there if you have a felony. Where in NY did you go to school?

May I ask where in NY you are from? I am so nervous to even start school. I have one more pre-req to take but I heard the hospitals where you have to do clinicals can deny you and then you get dropped from the program.
