I just passed my NCLEX last week and this week, I am officially listed as a Registered Nurse on my state's BON website! My only question is...Will I get anything in the mail? Certificate? Official Results? etc... My state of practice is North Carolina.

NC went "paperless" quite a few years ago, and no longer issues any kind of physical license. I believe that the BON will issue you a "suitable for framing" type license if you request it.

Back in the day, in NC they used to issue a plastic nursing license card every other year when you renewed your nursing license. Now you just verify licensure through the NCBON website. They may issue you something you can frame if you request (I don't know). However, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR RN!

Some states send you a large paper license, others send you a wallet-sized version, others send nothing. I don't know what NC does. Here in CA, I have a nifty plastic card that I can keep in my wallet.
All you really need is your license number. Even if you hand them a card/certificate/letter/matted and framed version, the employer is still going to verify your license with the BON.
Congratulations and best of luck!

My state sends us a plastic credit-card type with a halogram on it. We use it to "swipe" for classes, etc., just as you would swipe a bank card. Has our name and registered nurse number on it; renewed every 2 years. This is in Alabama.
