Currently on a narc restriction and working at a psychiatric facility. We got a new CEO who is a big jerk and doesn’t want to continue my employment due to my board order. We have another nurse in recovery on a board order who he also wants to terminate. For no good reason. We both have impeccable records and in the year I’ve worked there I’ve never had any write ups etc. this guy is obviously just not recovery friendly. Anyways, currently looking for new jobs. I’m wondering how some of my fellow board ordered nurses get jobs that require you to give meds. I’m looking at a chest pain obs unit. I’m thinking I’ll be giving some fluids, aspirin, blood thinners... doing ekgs... but there may be the occasional morphine/narcotic pain med order. Is there any way for the omnicell to restrict a user from pulling controlled meds but allowing me to pull other non-narcotic drugs? Thanks!

I work on a med/surg/tele unit. Omnicell blocks out anything narcotic so I cannot pull it. All charge nurses are away and try not to assign me pain management or ETOH withdrawal patients. I have to find the charge or another RN to pull these meds for me. It’s been annoying but I work in an amazingly supportive environment.
Svetlana, oh this gives me so much hope. Thank you. I was hoping the omnicell had this option.
