Nursing Job
Currently on a narc restriction and working at a psychiatric facility. We got a new CEO who is a big jerk and doesn’t want to continue my employment due to my board order. We have another nurse in recovery on a board order who he also wants to terminate. For no good reason. We both have impeccable records and in the year I’ve worked there I’ve never had any write ups etc. this guy is obviously just not recovery friendly. Anyways, currently looking for new jobs. I’m wondering how some of my fellow board ordered nurses get jobs that require you to give meds. I’m looking at a chest pain obs unit. I’m thinking I’ll be giving some fluids, aspirin, blood thinners... doing ekgs... but there may be the occasional morphine/narcotic pain med order. Is there any way for the omnicell to restrict a user from pulling controlled meds but allowing me to pull other non-narcotic drugs? Thanks!

Thinking about NP school
Hey everyone. I am a board ordered nurse. Been in a monitoring program and working in a psych facility for a year now. I’m considering going back to NP school which would have me graduating in two years (the same time I am finished with monitoring.) but I’m wondering if this is even possible. Has anyone gone back to school while monitoring? Will the board allow it? Am I even allowed to have an NP license? Thanks for any info!!

Narcotic restriction
Hello! I just completed IOP treatment and can finally go back to work. My case manager told me there are no restrictions on my license until I get a board order. I asked her how long this can take and she replied "if I had a crystal ball I would tell you." She said this can sometimes take up to a year. And then told me to just go find a job. I have been an ER nurse for 5 years and ER is what I love and it's all I know. I applied for a ER position last night and already got a call for an interview. My question is... how long did it take for you to get restrictions placed on your license? How long did your restrictions last? I've heard of one girl that agreed to take narcan everyday for six months in exchange for a narcotic restriction. I'm just worried about getting the ER job, and then BAM getting hit with these restrictions and getting fired. Should I still go for the job or look for something more "monitoring friendly?" Thanks so much!

Different drug testing options
My DOC was opiates. At the time, I was working ER. I'm almost done with my outpatient treatment where they diagnosed me with "mild opiate disorder" in my evaluation. No kicking and screaming. I have been extremely cooperative. Just gonna try to keep under the radar and jump through all their hoops. I'm in South Carolina so I don't know if it varies state to state.

Different drug testing options
Cn anyone explain to me the different drug testing options 1-4 and what they each mean? Also... how often do you guys get hair and blood tested? Just trying to budget all this out and see what I will be paying each month. Thanks!

Getting charged in multiple states?
So even if I'm in a monitoring program in one state.... bc another state is involved and i can't do two monitoring programs at once.... I will still have a red mark on my license forever? So what's the point of me even going through this hell for 5 years? I love being a nurse but it's not worth five years of my life, just to still have marks on my license. I may never find a decent nursing job. I'm going to contact a nursing lawyer today but if that's the case I'm just gonna throw in the towel. Of course, I'll wait until after my criminal case (praying for pti) so I can get the felony charges dropped. And then try to get a job in medical sales or something where my nursing license won't be looked at.

Getting charged in multiple states?
So when I'm done with my 5 year sentence in the SC monitoring program... Can I practice again in other states within my compact license or am I always forced to practice in SC the rest of my life?

Getting charged in multiple states?
So if I have multiple disciplinary actions from different states what does that mean? I'm already enrolled in a monitoring program and treatment.

Getting charged in multiple states?
What about criminal charges in another state? Could this turn into a federal case?

Getting charged in multiple states?
I know we can't give legal advice on this page but I am a travel nurse that got caught diverting in SC. I just had another state send me a letter in the mail saying that they are investigating me. Has anyone had experience with this and allow me to contact them privately?

PTI
No! The police officer took a statement from me... said she'd get back to me within the next week... and I've heard nothing.
