BSN entry level (Colorado)

Nurses Safety

Published

What does everyone know about the proposal that would make all RN's have to be BSN's, ADN's would be something less than an RN (not sure of the title), LPN's would be more or less CNA med techs, etc...I know some states make a BSN entry to practice registered nursing, but I live in Colorado where an ADN is considered an RN. How is this going to help the nursing shortage at all? Any word on this?

Specializes in Community Health Nurse.

It is things like this that make it so very essential NOT to teach our children to put all their "eggs in one basket", but to learn to diversify their vast talents in order to survive in a cold cruel business world today. If I were going to pay mega$$$ for a college education, it certainly would NOT be in ONE particular field, but several. I doubled my major......psych....nursing.....and I also went to college for a partial business degree which is how I worked as a Licensed Real Estate Agent....college trained....NOT agency trained or Board of Realtor trained....although my courses were taught at the college by Licensed Real Estate Brokers, except for my Real Estate Law Class which was taught by an attorney who specialized in that field.

The smart way to survive is to make your hard earned $$$$ work FOR you......NOT against you....and the only way to ensure the success of that is to do what?????? DI - VER - SI -FY.... DIVERSIFY!!!

When we know how to DIVERSIFY, we don't have to kiss azz nearly as much.....IF at all.....because we know we are talented in many areas, trained in many areas, and capable of keeping our heads above water. LET NO BOSS DROWN YOU IN THEIR SORROWS because YOU know how to do what???????? DIVERSIFY!!! When one door closes, a window of opportunitiy always opens up elsewhere......IF you what ?????? okay, okay, alright already......you got it!!! :lol2: :kiss

Hey I was just going through the info on the Colorado State Board of Nursing Website (URL = http://www.dora.state.co.us/nursing/newsandhottopics/newsandhottopics.htm for the info on the RENEW project, it has the red and blue plans mapped out and everything) and it says they're aiming at 2010-2015 on this proposal, so that'll give me a breather too...:chair:
