I'm not terribly sure how to eloquently start this thread so I'll just jump in. I have a wonderful job as an RN, wonderful life, but if the opportunity is available, I have to serve my brothers and sisters in Iraq or Afghanistan. I've been looking for contracts in Iraq and have found very little. I'm not interested in taking a commission, so the only option is a contract. Anyone done this, or have any leads.
I would love to talk to someone who's been an RN (or medic) over there.

I am not a huge resource in this area, but I did find a site that might be able to lead in a direction.
http://www.usphs.gov/default.aspx
Hope that helps, if not, I hope others will post some info.
This forum may also help you out.

My Dad is an MD in the army I know he found it hard to practice over there, he was always begging us to get surgical kits since they kept running out. He couldn't get chemo meds for this poor little boy and I know it broke his heart. Just be prepared for the emotional roller coaster! If you can try to practice in a Kurdish area, the Kurdish people are very friendly.
