nursing home vs hospital

Published

Hi everyone. I am presently job hunting and there is a nursing home near my home and they have an opening there. The nearest hospital is about a s5 minute drive away. I was just wondering if any of you know the average salary for a nursing home RN in non-metro areas, especially in MN.

Thanks for the help!!

i thought that nursing homes typically pay more...but the benefits are usually better at a hospital...just because it's a bigger corporation. and if you want experience a hospital would be better.

Hi, there! :)

Sorry, but I don't have much information on pay in the state of MN.

Nursing home RNs in my area (DFW, Texas) typically earn between $25 and $30 hourly, which is decent when you take the reasonable cost of living into account.

In eastside Washington state, (not Seattle) an RN in LTC only makes about $19.00/hr.

I wish I could help. In my area nursing homes pay better than the hospitals. The nursing home I work for is run by the county so it has great benefits. It does seem that the further away you get from the metro area (Rochester, NY) the lower the salary gets.
