my 'nursing now' book states that nurses often want to count the sprinting they do all day as their exercise for the day, but as this does not keep the heart rate up for a period of time, it is not cardivascular work out and that we still need to make sure we get our aerobic exercise in. okay, i get that...however this book recommends walking of all things to do. yeah, i bet...my feet hurt and i'm tired of being on them. maybe a row machine or even elliptical or something, but not more walking! which leads to my question....
how do you fellow nurses obtain a daily workout? any tips for getting the ole c.v. workout in? do you take advantage of your hospitals wellness programs? does this help you stay sane?
Yoga Booty Ballet is a set of exercise videos that incorporate dance, yoga, and firming exercises for your hips, thighs, and buns. you can order it off of the informercials, or beachbody.com. It's a lot of fun, especially if you like yoga and dance, and you can really feel it, but it's do-able. I've had to cut back on a lot of it since I'm pregnant now since some of the exercises aren't compatible with pregnancy, but can't wait to get back to it. It's a little expensive, but worth it because I use it a lot. I lost 25 pounds before getting pregnant with my baby by using it and eating better. Tonya
I can definitely see how swimming feels especially good when you are pregnant...and it is definitely the time of year for it! I have to admit that while I love walking and playing around outside, there's something nice about hiding out in my air conditioned place when really getting into exercising. And part of what I like with PUSH is the idea of having a personal trainer who goes through it with me :) One of the cardio ideas has yoga in it...maybe I'll go with that. I also want to try a dance one at some point! So I have to ask because I've seen it elsewhere too...what is yoga booty ballet exactly?
That Yoga Booty Ballet does sound pretty fun - I love the new trend of getting really creative with exercise options, instead of just settling for something that's boring or unoriginal.
I signed up for the Yoga cardio in my PUSH progam for my next disc, which should be very fun (and almost like yoga booty ballet, maybe!) I like that I can change it up from disc to disc if I want so if the yoga cardio is not for me, or I don't feel like it's challenging enough, I can switch it later - instead of risking getting something that might not be the kind of activity for me (I am so picky a lot of the time). So, I'll let you know what it is when I get it, and we can compare "dance yoga" notes
