Nursing dx for newborn respiratory issues

Published

So, my scenario gives very little information, other than tachypnea, tachycardia, nasal flaring, low temp, glucose 38 mom prolonged labor, SROM 48hrs.Apgar 9 and 9, weight 3175, GA unknown. My dx are Respiratory,Thermoregulation and Hypoglycemia. priority is airway, Ineffective breathing pattern, but I just don't know what is related to, because it doesn't look like baby is premature, weight is normal. I have the as evidenced by of nasal flaring, and the breathing. Could the related to, be the low glucose or is the respiratory issue causing the low glucose?

Can you add information? Such as O2 levels or respiratory rate? There's not even a full set of VS given...

temp36, pulse 170, respirations 66, no o2 levels,, positive moro reflex, positive babinski

The membranes were ruptured for 48 hours prior to delivery?

Is it possible that the hypothermia, hypoglycemia, tachycardia, and respiratory problems could result from a problem that you haven't mentioned?

that's all the info we were given in the scenario, latch of 8, caput succedaneum, the glucose, that's it. I am just struggling with phrasing my priority dx, which is respiratory, ineffective breathing related to what exactly? got the AEB with the flaring, tachypnea, tachycardia

I don't think that respiratory distress is your primary problem.

Again, is there one problem that could result in hypothermia, hypoglycemia, tachycardia, and respiratory complications? Particularly in the setting of prolonged rupture of membranes?

That was my first thought with a 48 hr ROM
