So this is a group assignment that we have to do and come up with a nursing diagnosis, now we chose that he has an ineffective breathing pattern does this work for this particular case study or is there something else that should be adressed first.
ANY help would be incredible. Thanks in advance

I have no way of helping you....without your assessment or scenario there is not enough information for me to help you.

One doesn't usually choose a diagnosis and then choose the person with it :) One usually chooses the patient and then assesses to be able to make a diagnosis.
Could you please clarify more of your assignment and needs?
Meanwhile, there are a number of threads on nursing diagnosis, prioritizing, and so forth here. Have you read any of them to get some background?

Yeah, definitely have to provide some sort of patient picture in order for us to help you brainstorm appropriate nursing dx to consider.
Going solely on the dx you've provided, be sure that you can back up your dx with specific examples of WHY his pattern of breathing is ineffective. Ineffective will mean that it's not suitable to sustain life or even basic activity....I've hardly ever seen this dx used in student care plans over the years, and the only time I could even believe this is the best option to elaborate on for an extended patient care plan would be if this patient was in an ICU setting with a disease process directly effecting his lungs/airway...but that's just me.
