The Florida Student Nurses Association convention was held this week in a nearby city. I highly recommend that if you get the opportunity to go to a convention---take advantage of it. There were many great presentations, not to mention freebies & tons of information about furthering your education or meeting with different hospital personnel. I'm so glad I went.

Thanks for the tip, Jennerizer.
I recently joined my state student nurses' association, even though there are no other members at my (small diploma) school. I figured it would be an interesting experience to go at least once, and you never know who you might meet, right?
Glad it was enjoyable for you.

Yes, that is correct. And for those that aren't aware....you do not have to be a member to attend the conventions. They will not pressure you to join. You may have to pay a small fee more than what a member would pay, but it is not much of a difference & you can still take advantage of the opportunities the conventions provide.

Always good to go to your state nurses assoc conventions and other conferences too.. If you go to these things, you will never have to buy pens again. This is the best time of year to go to conferences too- think of all the stocking stuffers!! Who wouldnt want a coffee mug or refrigerator magnet that says Xigris or Zetia on it?? haa. Jokes aside, conferences are a great way to find out about new meds and research, to network with others, and to simply elevate your mental. Its all about evidence based practice and keeping current. Sometimes the food is pretty good too... -Lorus

Any of you going to the NSNA Mid Year Conference in New Orleans? I plan to go, and it seems fun. I went to my state student nurses convention in Feb. this year, and it was GREAT! I am hoping to get lots of job offers this time around, since the conference is Nov. 13-16 and I graduate Dec. 16! If any of you are going, I hope to see you there, and good luck!
