Travelling around the world while having a full time job

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hi, I've been feeling a bit stressed lately. I want a work/travel balance. I'm trying to do one trip a year and want to go to a few places on my bucket list before settling down. This year I want go take 5 weeks off to go to Egypt and next year I'm thinking about taking 3 months off to work in Saudi Arabia. The year after that I want to go back home for a visit to Canada for three week then India for three weeks. The year after that I want to go to South America for three months. Then I'm done. Is that too much? Is it possible to find a full time nursing job that will allow me to do that?

I am HIGHLY doubtful you'll find a full-time position that will support leisure travel as you've proposed.

Can you become a travel nurse? Being a traveler would allow you to take contracts that work for your schedule, then travel internationally in between. You would be able to set your schedule for the contracts. So for instance, you could work a 3 month contract, go to South America for as long as you want, work a 3 month contact, go to India, etc.

Otherwise, if you can afford it, could you just take a year off, do all that you want to do and be done?
