Nursing in Australia

Published

How to work in Australia as a nurse? Im a registered nurse here in the philippine and currently working as a trainor in a caregiver school. Because its really diffucult to get a hospital experience here in our country. The caregiver school that I'm working with currently partnered with Metropolitan South Institute of Tafe.

Do australia only allow student working visa? It's too expensive to study in a foregin country. MSIT also offers diploma in nursing which cost $18,000. when converted to philippine peso, it would cost 700,000 Php. I have to pay other things like airfare, house, trnaspo, food..

What can you recommend for foreigh nurses like me? I've heard that Australia is much better that US. And with the retrogression still ongoing, i have to wait 5 or more years.

Was reading up on the Competency Assessment for Internationally Qualified Nurses and was wondering something...do any of you know if the challenge tests can all be done here in the Philippines? including the clinical (simulated) part? And if it is not passed, can the clinical module be taken as distance learning as well?

Challenge test A is done here in the Phil. and Challenge Test B is Done in an approved hospital in Australia. Modules are done thru distant learning(online) except for the clinical module.

Thank you for your response justinRN. I just wanted to clarify what I read in the websites regarding that matter....and it seems I did understand it correctly...

Just curious...are you currently going through the "program" yourself...i'm interested in discussing this with you further...maybe through yahoo messenger or PM?

Thanks again justinRN

hi justin!

thanks for your posts, i was informed:bow:. like many other newly graduate nurses, i am also waiting for the retrogression to be lifted up (US). i do have a tourist visa so i can visit my family in US anytime i want and i want to keep it that way. but the recession seems like it will take forever. i dont want to get stuck here in the philippines waiting for job vacancies for RN. however, my husband has an aunt who's an RN in NSW, and is willing to sponsor us in case i have to take the bridging course.

i took the NLE last june this year and hoping that ill make it. in case i did, what best thing should i do first?

thank you!

pls pm about details thanks

hi justinRN! pls. PM me......

pls. pm me for the details. have you already took the test A?

is it true that you could avail of the modules for free if you would apply for the educational program. but this program would last for 12months?

justinRN,

Could you please PM me so I could ask you for further details regarding the bridging program?

Well, my primary concern is that if the nurses board in Australia (WA) will require me to get experience first in the Philippines?

Thank you for your help! :)

hi justinRN,

I'm gonna need some info on this too. I'd really appreciate a PM. Thanks!

To justinRN:

Did you apply to QNC? You are doing it on your own or with an agency?

My pm function is not yet activated, i wish i could add you to my YM so that we could talk.

Thanks
