Nursing Application Essay

Hello, I just joined this website and this is my first post. :D I am applying for Nursing school for the fall. The school I am applying to does not require that you write an essay, but I think it will help me if I do one. I was just wondering if it was a good idea to write one anyway, and what you guys think about it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

To whom it may concern,

My name is . I am interested in applying to your Nursing Program. I am currently completing my AA in Liberal Arts. I have maintained good grades throughout my college career, and am continuing to move forward towards my goals. I volunteer at Union Hospital and I love it. I love working with others who share an interest in the medical field. The best part about working in a hospital is putting smiles on peoples faces and brightening their days. I know I will make an excellent nurse because all of my life I have helped out friends, family, and anyone who has sought guidance. I love putting people first, and always strive to do my best. Ever since I was young, I have had an appreciation of the human body and sciences. My personality is very caring, honest, and very sociable with others. I am very dedicated to my college career and anything that I do. Being a nurse requires great skill, knowledge, and precision. I will put my patients first always, and do everything in my power to assure their recovery. Listening to the patient is very important as well, and I am a great listener. I believe that you learn just as much from listening to others than you do from speaking. It is critical to listen to the patient to understand their needs.
