nurses rank no. 2 in gallup "honesty and ethics" poll the nation's nurses rank second for their honesty and integrity, with 84 percent of americans rating them "high" or "very high," according to a cnn/usa today/gallup poll. firefighters, who were given high ratings by 90 percent of americans, displaced nurses from the poll's top slot this year, following the sept. 11 terrorist attacks. also moving up in rank were members of the military, who came in at number three, with 81 percent of americans giving them high marks. and police, pharmacists, medical doctors and the clergy followed, with more than two-thirds of americans giving each group a thumbs up. nurses had previously rated first

for two years in a row, after being added to the list in 1999.

the poll was conducted on november 26-27.

nurses came in first the past two years, given high ratings by 73% and 79% of americans in each of the respective years. they supplanted the longest-winning group, pharmacists, who had come in first every year from 1988 to 1998.

I showed this survey to my son the lawyer pointing out where nurses were on the list as opposed to lawyers. He just laughed. He could care less. He makes around $150000.00 a year after being out of law school for a only a short time.
