Is there a particular nursing diagnosis book out there that you would suggest/recommend for a nursing student? Thanks for any advice. :)

Nursing Care Planning Made Incredibly Easy is a very good book that helps with writing care plans, but the better information on nursing diagnosis and writing a nursing diagnosis statement, I think, is in the first few pages of Nursing Diagnosis Handbook: A Guide to Planning Care, 7th Edition, by Betty J. Ackley and Gail B. Ladwig. I think the 8th edition has recently been published. If you don't want to buy the book get someone who has the book to xerox those pages for you. The book however, does contain all the current nursing diagnoses, the NANDA information and some NOC (outcomes) and NIC (interventions with rationales. I, myself, use NANDA-I Nursing Diagnoses: Definitions & Classification 2007-2008 which is published by NANDA International and can only be obtained from them for $25. It only has the NANDA nursing diagnoses in it and the definitions, defining characteristics and related factors. No interventions or goals. I don't have a copy, but I hear that Carpenito's nursing diagnosis book is also good. It should be. She's been a member of NANDA for years.
Thank you. :)

I like Nursing Diagnosis Handbook: A Guide to Planning Care, 7th Edition, by Betty J. Ackley and Gail B. Ladwig mentioned above. I purchased the older orange edition for $4 used on Amazon. It's a great book and has rationales. I used to have the Doenges pocket sized book, which was fine but smaller and without the rationales (I sold it after I got Ackley). If you need cited rationales for your careplans, the Ackley book is well worth the money.
