Hello California folks,
I attended the Nurseweek career fair at the Pasadena Convention Center today. It was awesome!
There was a discussion panel with 3 nurse recruiters from Huntington Hospital, CHLA and Providence Healthcare. Lots of booths with nurse recruiters from all sorts of companies too. Lots of honest talk, face time and opportunities to network with other nurses.
Anyone else went?

I attended an Advance Career Fair for Nurses at the Pasadena Convention Center back in September and I thought it was beneficial. Received a lot of info on new grad programs, but nothing more than what I could have probably found online. I did not like, however, how many of the HR reps there had their name badges turned around or had a piece of tape covering their name...they did not accept resumes or handed out business cards or their phone number. What a way to network, huh?
Oh wow, that sucks.
This was not my experience at the Nurseweek career fair. The nurse recruiters had name badges and business cards. Everyone was very much willing to give their information out. Only one booth I went to accepted resume hard copies. Everyone else requested online applications and emails.
As for information, I got a lot of it out of the nurse recruiters. A lot more particular details about who they hire, their pet peeves and their priorities in general. I also talked to them about events and professional organizations that are active in their facilities. Very interesting stuff I personally could not get off their websites.
