i am a new l.v.n just started working in a long term care facility......i have a question that i forgot to ask the nurse who was giving me training..this might be a dumb question but i want to know the correct answer because i am very new in nursing ...ok so my question is when the doctor calls us and tells us that the patient should have an appointment for regular checkup or something like that..does the doctor make an appointment himself or do we have to call on different number to make an appointment..and after the appointment has been made do we have to call the pro transport people to tell them that this patient has an appointment for regular check up and can you come pick him up???? pleaseeee add some more info if you can ..because i am not sure about all this....pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

The ward clark usually makes appointments and arranges transport but ask where you are. It isn't carved in granite. And you might have to let the ward clerk know to schedule the follow-up. Docs do not schedule appts.

It's all different for different places I would guess. Most of our patients are visited in home by their MD's during doctors rounds quite often. I think once a month per medicare guidelines? I could be wrong though, but it's very frequently that they see an MD in house.
Only when they are ill or request to go to the MD do they leave and go this way. Thankfully, our Social Worker takes care of rides and so forth. We just need to call and make the appointment and arrange paperwork.
I've never heard of a doctor making an appointment for you. Would be nice though!
