Go to a health food store and by that I don't mean GNC. My dad introduced me to an excellent health food store in Asheboro NC called Samson and the Lion, the workers there are so educated about vitamins and supplements it's incredible. If you don't get a good vitamin, I'm sure you know this, but it won't be absorbed into your system. As for echinacea, I take that, as well as goldenseal, grapeseed extract and occasionally St.Johns Wort.
Been proudly munching on Flintstone's vitamins for over 25 years now.
Seriously, I'm never anemic, have a great immune system, and look forward to taking my vitamin every day. Mmm-mmm-good!
Though I admit that lately I've been taking extra calcium (chocolate chews, of course) and folic acid as well.
I'm sure this isn't the type of advice you were hoping for.
I compared them to some of the adult vitamins out there and will stick with my Flintstones....
Exactly! I do not feel the need to take 500% of ANY daily nutrient! I'm fine taking 100%, thank you, and having it taste like candy to boot. Besides, I know that some of those big horse pill adult vitamins sometimes leave your body undigested, so how do you know if you even absorbed anything from it?
Right on, purplemania. While I do take supplements (C, E, calcium and MVI) I would not ask the health food store personnel for "advice."
Most of us had to take nutrition. We know what health eating is; practicing it is, of course, quite another matter entirely. The important thing is not to try and "balance out" an unhealthy diet with vitamin supplements.
I suggest doing your research before taking any herbal supplements. While I think vitamin supplements are OK (especially B-complex), some herbal supplements are ineffective or even dangerous. Check out medline for herbal info:

and whats this echinacea? (did i spell that right)
is there like a way where I can customize my vitamins?
for example i only want B12, selenium, and folic acid.
