Harrass, i don't think, however i DO get sick and tired of walking out of EVERY exit of the hospital and being greeted by a gagging fog of cig smoke. Thank GOD that's been put to a stop as of the 1st of this year.

harass: to annoy continually

I should have used another word besides harass. My intention of the word harass was more along the lines of annoy, rather than be verbally abusive.

If i were to annoy the people i refered to, that would mean that i'd have to stand in that cloud of stink to do so. Unfortunately, by passing through it, with no other choice, i used to wind up smelling like a **** ashtray anyway.

hey bro nice to see ya again. however i could not disagree with you more. read this http://www.lungusa.org/site/apps/s/content.asp?c=dvLUK9O0E&b=34706&ct=67093 pretty comparable right. and that was done in 96. there has been a big push to do another but lots of resistance and was suppost to come out this past december. 10 years now bet those numbers havw gone up can see it in the hospitals around my area. so you car drivers effect me, after all "In 1996, transportation sources were responsible for 47% of pollutant emissions" so by your rational "I have every right to annoy continually you, or any other driver that causes me to involuntarily invite carcinogens into my system!":rolleyes:

so i am guessing here, most everyone has the right annoy anyone just about anytime.

i say if its big issue for those in your town, state, ban it in public places period or get the hospital to ban it during work hours, like with alochol. if its not an issue and its allowed deal with it why annoy anyone? move to a area or hospital that does not allow it. lobby the right people to change if you want but dont infringe on their rigths, it is illegal to harass not smoke.

Yes, the best scenario for nonsmokers is smoke free public places. BTW, I don't hate smokers... I hate secondhand smoke. My wife smokes [geez, her nursing specialty is cardiac], yet she never smokes around me, or in the house, or in cars. We always seat at nonsmoking sections of restaurants, which is really mute unless the entire place is smokefree.

Nonsmoking section in a restaurant is like having a no peeing section in a swimming pool.

out last night for a steeler/birthday party for one of our nurses. sitting across from me at the table is a male nurse 45 years old. already had a mi and two cardiac stents placed. in his hand a cigarette. as the night went on, he opened his second pack. after he ate two hot dogs with the works, he ate a huge pice of birthday cake and washed it down with a 6 pack of beer. i'm not sure whats worse the smoking or the diet, but i think his chances would be alot better if the smoking was eliminated!

[color=yellow]go steelers!!!!!!!!!!

that 45 yr old male nurse is a disgrace with his poor diet and smoking habit. i guess he is overweight, too? btw, no hate implied towards overweight folks, especially those out walking & working out in the gym. imho, a nurse should have some kind of healthy lifestyle, thus practice wellness.

steelers; this is the first season i've ever liked the steelers; the bus, big ben, that awesome lb with the braids... yea i can cheer for them this playoff season. i use to hate the steelers, since i'm a long time dallas cowboy fan. however, since i'll be moving to the seattle area the end of march i must make the seahawks my #2 team. at any rate, i just want both games today & the sb to be relatively high scoring 30 something - 20 something & very close score to the end.

wow, smoking in restaurants. i have not seen that around here in about 8 years or so. we made it illegal to smoke anywhere in the state inside public places. just in the past few month along the beach cities from manhatten to palos verdes you can not smoke at all. that stretches across hermosa, redondo and torrance beaches, outside or inside. several other cities are following there lead in this. i agree with no smoking period. as i dont smoke, just beleive in individual rights rather strongly.

sometimes we must put up with things we dont like to protect are own rights. just like with freedom of speech, some will say things we might find disturbing, ex. howard stern, but i must allow them to speak or risk losing my own right. same for the smoking thing. i do however advocate the banning of smoking in public places, but will abide by the rule of law if out voted on the subject. great thing about our country, if you dont like smoking in restaurants there are places that do not allow it. but dont go where they do allow it than complain to the individual.

As much as i despise Howard Stern, his words are not going to flare up my asthma. Apples and oranges.

Never have, but ever since this county and city went smoke-free in restaurants, owners HAVE seen an increase in sales.
