Well I am at my third "failed attempt at retirement". (Kept getting called back to one clinical area or other.....fortunately our farm/ranch is paid for, and have moderate + investments/savings over what ever SS will be.......current job a physician office, not the greatest $s I have ever made, but certainly the best hours, plus all major holiday liberal time off......I can do this easily a while longer.....but I am one of the odder ducks that love working, might be result, of not really having to......I can not stress enough, to save, invest, put aside assets for potential retirement..... You may think you can't afford that, I use to think so in my 20-30s.......but mid 40s, wised up.......plan for your future

For all you retired nurses that know more now than you did then. What would you have done differently?
I have a nurse friend that moved specifically to a lower cost of living area that is several hundred miles from where she did most of her practice. She wished she had just down-sized more so she could afford to stay closer to her friends.
