Is there anyone that is board ordered IPN employed in a hospital? Currently working but wanting to return to the hospital. Do not want to waste anyone's time if hospitals do not hire board IPN. Thanks
I have and plenty are. You've just got to find the right facility. Frankly it seems the contracts are structured for the hospital floor nurse and not much else. If you work any specialty such as ER or ICU, it appears to be very difficult to traverse the gauntlet of supervision stipulations (which do seem to be interpreted in a head spinning variety of ways) or the prohibitions on OT, floating etc.
Once you can get past the key restriction, if you have one, job hunting is easier. Unfortunately, that can't be done unless you get a job to start with, as I am sure I are painfully aware of.
A lot of the bigger facilities are much more willing to work with the constraints of these things. Most larger systems will give people a chance. You do need to keep trying. You will find something.
Thank you for your reply. I am currently working as a RN and my key restriction is over with. I am just worried about wasting all the time and energy looking if the possibility is not there. It is reassuring to know that there is a chance.
Yes, I work in a hospital and very supportive.
I also work in a hospital, have an incredible support network there.
I work for the VA and am lucky to do so. I'm an ER Nurse by trade and was banished from there in September of last year. In our system I was reassigned to an administrative posting. However, if I worked for the other two major hospital systems in my area I simply would have been dismissed as per my knowledge from other colleagues in the same situation. Presently, PNAP is asking the BON if I can return to Critical Care / ER. Its been a year & a half and hopefully I'll be allowed to go back to my job. I think it depends on what you do in the hospital and what state you are in.
