What to say to a nurse returning from rehab

Hello, allnurses community!

After at least a year of lurking on the site and following the questions and responses of others, I figured it was time to make my own account to share my opinions and post my own questions.

To make a long story short, I am a nursing student and a nurse that I greatly admire and look up to was caught diverting at work, and recently returned home from rehab.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should reach out to her to let her know that I am thinking of her and support her? A card? Text? Voicemail? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

How well do you know this nurse? If it is well enough to have an email address or phone number then simply letting them know you're thinking of them is ok. When they come back, a welcome back and letting them know they are appreciated also works. Leave the rest to them. They may wish to keep things private.

Just "welcome back " when you see her. If she wants to talk more, she'll approach you.
