Nurses for Japan

I'd appreciate any information you can give me on how to apply to Japan as a nurse. I tried different key words in search engines like Yahoo and Google, but I can't really find the information I want. If somebody can share with me a particular website on any information about the application process, I'd be forever grateful. I'm doing this for my sister who is also a nurse. She didn't pass the NCLEX and is considering Japan as an alternative. I discouraged her to retake the exam because it'll take years to process her application to the US anyway because of the retrogression. Besides she has no experience since it's difficult to be hired in most local hospitals. I know that many are against JPEPA, saying that it's degrading to Filipino nurses...but you know what, at this point in time, my sister can't be really that choosy...even if they're saying that the nurses going to Japan will only get smaller compensation, I'd still consider that as a blessing. You see, it's a choice between staying here in Philippines and be a bum OR work in Japan, get paid. Yes, it won't be much, but at least my sister would be gaining work experience. In the long run, it would really help her out since most of the hospitals in the US and Canada require experience anyway; she can apply later when she's got the minimum required experience. At least if my sister will have the chance to work in Japan, she'd be paid still plus get the experience COMPARE THAT to staying here in the Philippines, be unemployed since the chances of getting hired is nil :bluecry1:

So for anyone who can share how to make it to Japan, I'd really really appreciate any information you can share. Thanks so much :D

By the way, if it my sister needs to learn Japanese and take extra courses, she'd go at any lengths just to increase her chances in getting hired. And oh, she belongs to Class 2006 and up to now unemployed...

Please please share any info...thanks thanks thanks :typing

Doesn't look good in Japan. What about Canada? How about Australia ? How about the Mid East?

Nursing or being a bum the rest of one's life seems to be extreme, she has no other employable skills?

It is a bit extreme.

There are hundreds of retail saleslady positions open.

But honestly, once you've spent all that time studying to become a nurse isn't it a bit degrading to end up on a 6-month rotation for the mall drones?

BTW, for those in the USA, sales jobs are not permanent positions. There is no room for growth. Every employee is fired at the end of 6 months and has to re-apply. The business owners do that here in the Philippines to get away with minimal wages and zero benefits.

Yes, even the American companies.

To be honest there are very few opportunities for real career growth in the Philippines even with a 4-year degree because of all the corrupt business practices and even more corrupt government allowing those business practices.

Yes, even the American companies.

There are several threads on this forum giving specifics as to what is going on in Japan with the program there.

Does your sister hold a PRC license first of all? The other requirement is that she speak and write Japanese before she will be permitted to write their licensing exam that is in Japanese. Since the Japanese government up until this point in time has never permitted a Japanese national to be licensed there if they trained out of the country, it is going to be quite a tough thing to get done, especially without any experience as well. Being unemployed since she graduated from school is not going to be in her favor in many places. Even in the US, for an American that has been away from nursing for two years, it is very hard to get hired again.

She will be working as a caregiver there at the most, and that will not give her experience as an RN.

I would recommend taking the time for some reading on the specifics, last I saw was that Japanese ancestry was also a requirement as well.

There are other countries that are hiring as well, and in the role of the RN, where one actually gets paid to do the RN work. I would look into those rather than going as essentially a personal maid to someone.

i already know this Japanese's thing,, you will be working there as a CAREGIVER just like my batch mate that went to Spain working there as caregiver in a nursing home she was also required to take the spanish language class first for 1 month in INSTITUTO de cervantes in manila before living the country is quite expensive though.

It is quite easy for someone that is fluent in Tagalog to pick up and learn Spanish. But the same most definitely cannot be said about Japanese.

But why in the world would someone after investing time and money into becoming a university grad with a four year degree want to work in the role of the unlicensed caregiver? Sorry, but that does not make any sense to me at all. There are places that one can go to and actually get paid as an RN and for doing RN work.

Biggest issue with any of these care-giver jobs as they will not count as current work experience as an RN when one is finished with these contracts and then they are back to square one. It is really not a good thing and one is only being taken advantage of and that is not a good thing at all.

It actually should not be called Nurses for Japan but unlicensed caregivers for Japan. One also needs to be able to actually write and pass the language exam for there, not just take a one month course in Japanese either, not sure if you are aware of this requirement.
