nurses house inc, the only national charity for nurses in need, will be holding their annual dolphin award reception and fundraiser on november 5, 2009 from 6:00-8:00pm. the event will be held at the harbour lights restaurant, pier 17, 3rd floor, south street seaport, new york, ny 10038.
nurses house is the only national charitable organization offering financial assistance to registered nurses in need. their mission is to provide short-term aid to nurses who are unable to work as a result of illness, injury, or disability. over the years, nurses house has helped thousands of nurses in all fifty states to regain health and productivity. in the past three years alone, nurses house has helped over three-hundred nurses with grants totaling over $300,000. nurses who receive financial assistance are able to use nurses house funds to cover such basic needs as food, shelter, health insurance and medications while they are out of work or awaiting long term disability benefits.
nurses house is run by a volunteer board of directors and funds come mainly from donations by nurses and nursing organizations, and through various fundraising activities.
the 2009 dolphin award ceremony and fundraiser will be the group's third annual event of it's kind. this year, nurses house will honor maimonides medical center and nurse staff for their overall contributions and support of nurses house.
donna cardillo, nursing spectrum's "dear donna," will be serving as the master of ceremonies.
the event will include live entertainment by dolce vita strings, an open bar, hors d'oeuvres, door prizes and a prize drawing. corporate sponsors include the new york state nurses association and cherokee uniforms. sponsors of various levels are still being sought to support the cost of the event.
tickets are $100.00 or $65.00 for maimonides medical center staff and all proceeds will benefit nurses house. for ticket information, or information about sponsoring the event, please contact stephanie dague at (518)456-7858 x27.
