Hi. I am considering getting my brown hair highlighted with a lot of blonde streaks. My hair will probably turn out mostly light blonde. I have always wanted to go blonde, but I am not sure if we as nurses can have 'hip' hairstyles if you know what I mean. I once read that nurses are to keep a conservative look with basic hair color. I will be graduating before too long and don't want blonde highlighted hair to keep me from getting a job. :anbd: What do you as nurses think of highlighted hair? :rcgtku:

you read my mind, i'm currently looking for a second job but got my bang highlighted in blonde!!! just before i decided to job search, the rest of my hair is black, so its really apparent, it just told myself it would blend the blonde with the black from the rest of my hair by combing the black over the blonde!!, if i had to go on an interview lol! please its enough that i'm a teenager! if they see the blonde highlights they def might not wanna hire me!

It's amazing how the old religious-order and military mentality of nursing still rears its ugly head in regards to a nurse's hairstyles and lifestyles. Some things concerning fashion are a health hazard, and should be regulated, such as those long fake fingernails with stuff stuck all over them, and everyone who works in patient care should have to abide by the same guidelines. But hairstyles and shoe colors ... come on. Join the 21st century. Nurses aren't nuns and we aren't in the military. (And we believe we deserve meal breaks, safe staffing, and fair pay.)
