What do nurses do who work for insurance agencies? And is any nursing experience required?

There are several areas in insurance where nurses can work, disease management, case management, discharge planning, telephone triage and education from a call center. And yes you do need experience in the field before doing this kind of work, med/surge, ICU or emergency are often good areas a good solid foundation helps.

A friend of mine left bedside nsg to work for an insurance company. She mostly reviews claims and says she really likes the hours.
